Lahore: Punjab Information Minister Uzma Bukhari has said that those who claimed to bring revolution ran away leaving shoes and clothes.
During a press conference at the DGPR’s office here, he said: “When the public stood firm, Baji ran away, and there is a lot of discussion on social media about this.” He further remarked that this woman (Bushra Bibi) destroyed the politics of PTI founder Imran Khan, adding that Bushra Bibi thinks she is just roaming in the streets of Pakpattan.
Buhari asserted that cases have been registered against the “rioters” and that no one will be spared.
He also said that only a few people from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa participated in the protest, while people from other provinces rejected his call. The people in Punjab did not respond to his call at all. The minister clarified that there is no shortage in Punjab.
During the PTI protest, the Chief Minister held three hours long meetings. The Chief Minister thanked the people of Punjab for rejecting the call of the rioters. No one including Hamad Azhar was seen participating in the protest in Punjab. He criticized Bushra Bibi for facing backlash on social media, adding that the entire PTI had made it clear that Imran Khan had given permission for the protest in Sangjani, but Bushra Bibi had given them permission. Insisted on withdrawal. Bushra Bibi kept asking the Pathans to stay with her and they did so but “Baji” ran away.
The provincial information minister compared the protests to how other politicians like Kulsoom Nawaz and Maryam Nawaz took part in politics, saying the PTI’s approach was completely different. He also pointed out that 171 police personnel were injured and four Rangers personnel were martyred during the unrest.
He claimed that the rioters had come to attack the Prime Minister’s House and Parliament. Now that the cases have been registered, no one will be spared. Agitators damaged 22 vehicles of Punjab Police. People sitting outside were encouraging others to move forward and protesting on social media while the rich left the poor behind in luxury Land Cruisers.
Buhari noted that the country has lost billions and foreign visitors are witnessing the chaos. He likened the situation to a “death procession” as the rioters fled when they saw death approaching.
He noted the absence of his political leaders, including Salman Akram Raja, who spent two days as a reporter before disappearing. He added that Afghan nationals have been arrested, and their data is coming. He lamented seeing the Afghan children involved, noting how emotional they became during the protests. He criticized Shahbaz Gul as a political opportunist who lies and runs away when confronted.
He also said that PTI people are roaming around with weapons. Bukhari concluded by questioning whether the protest against the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa should take place in his province, and why they were attacking the federal government.
