The two-day book fair, the final event of the first Karachi Festival of Books and Libraries (KFBL) 2024, was jointly inaugurated by Senator Sarmad Ali, Secretary General All Pakistan Newspapers Society and Murad Ali Mohmand, Managing Director, National Book Foundation. Society with co-founders Aziz Memon and Syed Khalid Mehmood in a colorful function at Rangoon Community Center Dhuraji, on Wednesday.
The speakers highlighted the importance of books and libraries and termed KFBL as a historic initiative which will play a vital role in promoting reading habit in the society especially among the youth of the country.
They agreed to advocate more such activities in the larger national interest. He drew rapturous applause from the audience, who applauded his proven commitment to social service.
Publishers, booksellers and NGOs have set up their stalls during the book fair offering generous discounts to visitors. Some exhibitors are providing books absolutely free to deserving people for charitable purposes. Open to the public from 10:30 am to 8 pm, the book fair (today) will conclude on Thursday. The first KFBL produced by Jumbo Publishing in collaboration with the English Speaking Union of Pakistan (ESUP) was launched in January.
