Michael, a Disney World technician, was last seen in November 2015, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
Her body was discovered on March 9, 2018, after a friend reported her missing and police conducted a sobriety test at Shaver’s five-acre home in Claremont, west of Orlando. Authorities found Michael’s body Buried under the pit of fire And a concrete slab in the backyard.
Authorities said Shaver sent text and Facebook messages pretending to be Michael after he was already dead.
Shaver also reportedly told friends that Michael had left the family and moved to other states. He was arrested in 2020, five years after Michael’s death.
During her trial, Shaver claimed that Michael was an abusive husband and had killed her 7-year-old daughter.
Shaver’s daughter, now 15, testified in her mother’s defense during the trial. Fox 35 reported.
“I shot him,” swore the young man.
“When you fired that shot, did you feel that you had to, or he would kill your mother?” Shaver’s lawyer asked.
“Yes, yes,” she said.
“While justice may provide some relief, it will not heal the wounds,” Brian Shaver, Michael’s brother, said during the sentencing. A local outlet reported.
A friend of Michael’s also wrote to the judge asking that Shaver never be freed.

“Laurie’s inhumane, callous, and brutal actions, and especially her lack of repentance, indicate that she will never change,” the letter read.
Shaver’s lawyer has filed an appeal against the decision.
