ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) conducted Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) across Sindh on Sunday. On the direction of the Sindh High Court, Sukkur IBA University was entrusted with the task of conducting MDCAT across the province.
In a statement issued by the council, PMDC President Professor Dr. Rizwan Taj said that the test was conducted at seven centers in five divisions of the province: Karachi, Hyderabad, Shaheed Benazirabad, Sukkur and Larkana. . He said that 38,684 candidates retook the test.

He said that the test started simultaneously across the province at 11:55 am, and ended successfully after a duration of three hours and 30 minutes.
He visited all the MDCAT centers in Karachi during the test, and met Sukkur IBA University Vice Chancellor Sikandar Asif Shaikh and Provincial Health Secretary.
PMDC officers were present at all the centers for monitoring, he said, adding that provincial, divisional and district authorities including security agencies, Federal Investigation Agency and Intelligence Bureau were also deployed for necessary assistance. He pointed out that the university authorities have made foolproof arrangements for the conduct of MDCAT.
A day earlier, the PMDC president had convened a high-powered monitoring committee meeting with key stakeholders to discuss test preparations and security arrangements.
Among those who participated in the meeting were Secretary Health, Secretary Universities and Boards, Special Secretary Home Department, Vice Chancellor Sukkur IBA University and Director Examinations PMDC.
The discussion focused on enhancing coordination, streamlining examination logistics and addressing any challenges faced by the candidates during the process. Dr Taj emphasized on cooperation between provincial authorities, educational institutions and examination bodies to maintain maximum quality in medical education.
He highlighted that PMDC is committed to ensure uniformity and transparency in future examinations across the country. He added that to achieve this objective, a dedicated committee of experts is meeting regularly at PMDC to prepare a comprehensive plan for the upcoming examinations, including transparency in the evaluation process and Emphasis should be placed on consistency.
