2024 fared relatively better than 2023 in terms of vehicle hijacking and theft incidents in Karachi with 10,000 fewer vehicles being hijacked or stolen.
However, the data on stolen and stolen motorcycles in 2024 shows an interesting trend, that when it comes to snatching, robbers preferred 125cc motorcycles while motorcycle thieves generally prefer to steal 70cc motorcycles.
Citizens Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) Deputy Chief of Operations Shabbar Malik provided this correspondent with details about the stolen and confiscated motorcycles. According to CPLC records, 28,561 motorcycles and cars were stolen or stolen in 2022. In 2023, this number decreased slightly to 28,087. A total of 1,123 70cc motorcycles were confiscated during the year. In 2024, 778 motorcycles of the 110cc specific category were stolen by robbers from the coastal region. The boats use 110 cc motorcycle engines which are in demand in the coastal region of Balochistan.
