Kirk: 12 people, including a woman and her daughter, were killed and 25 injured in a traffic accident on the Indus Highway in Ambari Kalla area of Kirk district on Saturday.
According to reports, the accident took place near Ambari Kala Chowk in Takht Nusrati Tehsil of Kirk District, where a heavily loaded container truck went out of control due to brake failure, ran over several vehicles and pedestrians and collided with a passenger coach.
As a result, 12 people including women and children were killed while more than 25 were injured. The dead include locals as well as travelers. Eyewitnesses said chaos erupted at the scene of the accident at Ambari Kala Chowk as the injured screamed and called for help. He said that many people are trapped under the container. As soon as the information was received, local people, police and rescue teams reached the spot. They administered first aid to the injured before shifting them to the district headquarters hospital in Kirk. Some seriously injured were later shifted to hospitals in Kohat and Peshawar. It has been reported that the death toll may increase. Hospital sources have confirmed the death of 9 people and 13 injured, while according to rescue sources, a total of 12 people have died and 25 have been injured. Six of the dead have been identified, including a woman named Anila, Shakir’s wife, his young daughter and Muhammad Ishaq, Awam Khan, Salim Muhammad and Qaiser Khan, all residents of Karak Tehsil.
